Justin Tredeau, Canada's Prime Minister, has announced that his country will not sign a trade agreement that expires automatically every five years. Tredeau said the new tariffs are an insult to Canada, a close ally of the United States. Trump, however, remained adamant.
In response, the US president accused Canada of imposing immense duties on American farmers, workers and companies. Trump has also failed to threaten new tariffs on cars that are being imported into the US markets. Tredeau is not the only leader opposed to American myths. The European Union, which is also planning retaliatory measures, joined the dissatisfaction. It is also expected that Mexico will take such steps.
What to expect from the markets in the first minutes of the trading week
I expect the JPY, CHF and gold to mark the promotions during the Asian session and the indexes to launch a new sale stage. In addition, expectations for the Trump meeting with Kim Jong Un on June 12 are becoming more positive and this will put additional pressure on China from the US. We are waiting for gaps in favor of major crosses with JPY, CHF, as well as gold.
