Deutsche Bank's shares in today's European session rose after news came out that the German government is planning to hurry its rescue plan.
According to sources familiar with the case, the government is working on a plan to merge Deutsche Bank with Commerzbank. Consideration is also given to the possibility of changing the national tax code to facilitate the merger process.
Deutsche has a very tough year, accounting for a 53 percent decline in its shares after failing to revive. Representatives of both banks, however, declined to comment.
