The Fed decided not to raise its key interest rate two weeks ago, but President Fed- New York William Dudley said that the increase will likely come before 2016.
"My expectation is that we will raise rates later this year," Dudley said at an event sponsored by the WSJ, where he was interviewed. If the US economy continues to maintain the current course "has a pretty strong case for the first step."
But there are concerns that the global economic outlook - which restrained by the Fed raise rates in September - will not change before the Fed meeting in October. The world economy probably will not change much before the final meeting of the year in December. Not much economic data between now and the Fed meeting in late October, which could significantly alter the Fed's outlook.
