When the CBOE Volatility Index surged a week ago, many wondered whether that would mark the beginning of a revival in stock swings. The gauge is now heading for its longest losing streak of the year, with a 33 percent five-day drop that's the biggest since the aftermath of Donald Trump's election in November. The elements that have muted price movements are still largely in place, according to Morgan Stanley chief cross-asset strategist Andrew Sheets, who said to keep an eye on factors including a pick-up correlations for a change in the volatility regime.
