Asian markets traded mixed Monday morning, as traders digested the slew of Chinese economic data released at the weekend.
Japan's Nikkei 225 advanced by 0.88 percent, while across the Korean Strait, the Kospi reversed losses to trade near flat. In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index was up 0.20 percent.
Chinese mainland markets were lower, with the Shanghai composite down 0.68 percent and the Shenzhen composite down 0.59 percent. Australia's ASX 200 was up 0.42 percent
Major U.S. indexes closed lower Friday, with the Dow Jones industrial average down 1.05 percent, the S&P 500 off 0.85 percent and the Nasdaq composite lower by 0.41 percent.
Oil prices also advanced on Monday in Asia, with global benchmark Brent up 0.79 percent to $48.21 a barrel, while U.S. crude futures added 0.71 percent to $46.55.
