Most Asian markets gained, led by a jump in Japan shares, and by a positive cue from Wall Street on Monday.
All three major averages in the U.S. reversed an opening decline to close at their highest levels of the year so far. The Dow held about 106 points higher in the close, above the psychologically key 18,000 level for the first time since July 20, 2015.
Elsewhere, oil prices steadied after Monday's drop on producers' failure to reach a production-freeze deal over the weekend.
The slight rise in oil prices in early trading on Tuesday came as an oil worker strike in Kuwait cut the country's production to just 1.1 million barrels per day (bpd), down from 2.8 million.
Earnings come from Publicis, Danone, Remy Cointreau, Accor, AkzoNobel, TomTom, Roche, AB Foods and Alliance Trust. On the data front, Germany's closely-watched ZEW economic sentiment index.
