President Donald Trump said that substantial tariffs on Chinese goods would be imposed if the talks did not lead to a deal during his meeting with Chinese President Xi.
"My plan B with China is to do less business with them and to impose more and more tariffs." - said the president of the United States.
Trump has previously called on to raise tariffs on other Chinese goods even before the Osaka meeting was set on the horizon. Earlier, Mnuchin said he was hopeful for a deal between the two countries, and that it was ready at 90%, but Trump quickly swept the hopes of everyone.
The alternative would be to postpone the tariffs in the negotiation process until a final agreement is reached. Trump did not miss out and criticize Germany and Vietnam, which he said "exploited" their relations with the United States.
