U.S. stocks pulled back Friday, but remained on track for solid weekly gains thanks to a big advance Thursday, when the European Central Bank unveiled fresh stimulus measures.
European stocks continued to rally Friday following the ECB’s quantitative easing. Investors also took in a reading on existing-home sales that roughly matched expectations, and Starbucks and E-Trade were big winners in the S&P 500 after their quarterly reports, helping to limit the benchmark’s slip, even as a dive by UPS weighed.
