The largest oil market in the world, buyers have better opportunities of US crude oil.

Many of the region's refineries are designed to process heavier, cheaper oil with high sulfur content. For lighter and cleaner shale oil from the US, which is about one-third farther and an additional payment also has alternative supplies from the Middle East.
