U.S. stock index futures pointed to a sharply lower open on Thursday morning as traders eyed the release of data and earnings.
First Republic Bank and Winnebago are among companies set to report before the bell on Thursday, while Infosys is due to report after the bell. Friday will see Citigroup, JPMorgan and Wells Fargo report.
Delta Air Lines reported mixed results Thursday, with earnings per share beating expectations while revenues missed.
On the data front, jobless claims and import prices are due to be released at 8:30 a.m. ET, with the Federal budget at 2:00 p.m. Thursday will also see Philadelphia Fed President Patrick Harker speak on the economic outlook at the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia.
In oil markets, Brent crude traded at $51.79 a barrel on Thursday, down 0.04 percent, while U.S. crude was around $50.10 a barrel, down 0.18 percent, after breaking below the key $50 mark.
