While the CBOE Volatility Index just had its biggest intraday surge since last year’s Brexit vote rеsult, the gauge is set to post a second quarterly decline, with a 7.5percent drop through Thursday. The VIX came within 5 percent of its record low earlier in June and averaged 11.4 in the past three
months, the least since 2006. Despite the low level, Goldman Sachs Group Inc. has said the volatility risk premium has increased and is “unusually high,” recommending to be selective when buying options.
