What to expect this week

Germany had already made a choice at the beginning of last week, with Angela Merkel's party again leading in the Bundestag. This news, however, failed to lift the euro as Merkel's result would force her to seek a coalition with another party, something we may not see until the end of 2017. This put some pressure on the euro as the indexes grew. US indices also rose after Trump introduced its renewed Tax Plan, which aims to reduce taxes to 20%. During the week, we did not see any stir by North Korea, and this and the other factors contributed to the decline in JPY and Gold prices.

Next week the event that all investors will expect is Non-Farm Payrolls from the states on Friday. Given this, lower volatility and caution on the part of investors are expected during the week. This could lead to a rise in gold and JPY, and worse data could expect a drop in the dollar. Throughout the week, China will be a non-working day, and this will help lower volatile Asian sessions. We remain on the alert, watching the situation in North Korea closely, and at any provocation we can expect a growth of JPY and GOLD.
