This season ruled.
The 2016-17 NBA season was phenomenal for what it gave fans. Historic performances, legendary nights, incredible drama and maybe the best MVP race we have ever seen.
In the end, we wound up with four major candidates: LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard, James Harden and Russell Westbrook.

The debate on who should win the title for most valuable player before the playoffs is never ending and has no wrong answer to it. All four candidates deserve their nominations from the fans, and of course they have their results to back them up.

LeBron James is the best player in the league. We all know it. So why shouldn't he be the MVP? He averages 34.0 points, 11.1 rebounds and 11.2 assists per 100 possessions. He shoots 36.3% from the ark and makes a career high rebounds and assists.

Kawhi Leonard is the best all around player on a team with 60 wins. He is the best perimeter defender in the NBA and has a legendary offensive efficiency. Leonard is reason why his team has that many wins this season. From the other candidates, he made the most blocks and steals and the least turnovers per 100 possessions.

James Harden led the Houston Rockets to the ninth-best offensive season in the history of NBA, as he is the player with the most points and assists. He averages a triple-double per 100 possessions. Harden is the first in the league by points made ( combination of made points and points from assists). He's on the way to become the first player in the history to made average 25 points and 25 assists per game. The Beard made his team a true contender for the title this year, as the team has the whooping 54 wins. At the moment he holds the record for 30 points and 15 assists per game, set during the 1984-85 season. James Harden changed his position from shooting guard to point guard with amazing efficiency, taking more responsibilities, and the results speak for themselves.

The last of the four KIA MVP candidates is Russell Westbrook. He is in phenomenal form this season and has monstrous results this season. Russell is the second player in NBA history to average a triple-double per game this season, and does so with leading the league in points. He holds the record for most triple-doubles made in a single season with 42, leading with 1 the legend Oscar Robertson. Statistically speaking, when he makes a triple-double, his team, Oklahoma City Thunder has a 78% chance of winning.

There's no "wrong" argument here. Some voters really believe it is that simple, that Westbrook's averaging a triple-double is enough. Some think Leonard is the best player on both side of the ball on the best team, and that's enough. Some think LeBron is LeBron, and that's enough.

There's an argument against overthinking it. But in a season this incredible, with so much history being made, we can do with a little overthinking.

Harden did more than James or Leonard, and did what he did more efficiently than Westbrook. He led his team to more wins. He adapted more, made his teammates better, made his team better, even if they were better than Westbrook's to begin with.

James Harden is the most impactful player this season, and so, he's the 2017 NBA MVP.
