Why China can not unite with Japan

It is clear to everyone that the trade relationship between China and the US is worth trillions of dollars, but what would happen if those relationships were to end. Such scenarios would lead to an economic catastrophe in both regions, as the two countries are a target market for exporting goods to each other. These events will be most strongly reflected in the stock and forex market and, as a result, we can expect a strong deterioration in the economic performance of the countries in the two regions and a deepening of the problem across the world.

Why, however, are China's ambitions for a dominant country in the region always to a dead end?

Put yourself in the position of a Chinese strategist, pondering how to undermine the dominant role of the United States in East Asia since the end of the Second World War.

Beijing has already built a fleet to bring the US into the Pacific Ocean and to establish military bases on artificial islands in the South China Sea. Since Donald Trump has caused alarm among US allies worldwide, China is trying to seduce its Asian neighbors to get them into a new military club.

Despite these actions, Beijing has never attempted the only move that could at one point destroy the American interests in the region, and hence the world, that is, destroy the long-standing cooperation between the United States and Japan. If China, as a super force for Asia, is able to provide military security to Japan, the US influence in the region will be minimized.

Why, then, is China so hostile to Japan, rather than trying to seduce her?

The conventional explanation is that Beijing does not dare talk to Tokyo, because the Chinese remain collectively insulted for the aggression and atrocities of Japan during the Second World War and the subsequent refusal of the country to apologize for them. But this view does not hold.

The real obstacle to reconciliation between China and Japan lies in the way their wars in history have been conquered by the domestic politics of both countries, exacerbating their natural rivalry as the two great powers of Asia.

Over time, politics towards Japan has become so sensitive that any Chinese employee who advocates reconciliation risks his career all the time. Of course, sensitivity in the Sino-Japanese relationship is simultaneously on both sides. Chinese experts in Japan are also under pressure. After the 1990s, Japan's diplomats in China were abandoned and repressed until they fell out of the system. Thus, the second and third economies in the world fail to talk to each other and build a stable relationship.

The leaders of Beijing and Tokyo still use their power to suck the citizens that China is the enemy of Japan and Japan's enemy of China.

While China has intentions and is trying to develop as a super force in the region, Japan will want to keep US troops in the region. Japan can not cope alone with China, and North Korea's nuclear arsenal only exacerbates relations between the two countries. If the US pulls out of the region, it will upset the Japanese authorities and we can expect more severe reactions on its part.

Only then could China take advantage of and attract Japan as an ally.
