With an informal fashion and casual attitude, Gross isn't like many other Wall Streeters. Everyone has been wondering why does Bill Gross always wear his tie draped over his neck. The eccentric financial manager has revealed the truth:
In 1971, he has moved to the Orange County from Los Angeles. At that time, Pimco, an investment firm Gross founded in 1971, had a modern building, but without any GYM or showers inside. Gross loved to exercise, so he would run for five miles daily in the afternoon. He had to change in the bathroom daily and towel off the sweat, so after the noon, he began to wear the tie untied. In a couple of years, he just decided not to tie it at all, even in the mornings.
Currently, at the age of 71, Gross works as a portfolio manager at Janus Capital Management.
