Why is it so important to know who is Satoshi Nakamoto?

A few weeks ago, Craig Wright began giving out court orders to those who claimed he was not Satoshi Nakamoto, creator of Bitcoin. Obviously, attempts at lawsuits were just an attempt to gain prominence. Craig says, "This will allow me to prove my identity to a real judge instead of being sued on Twitter."

But even as an experience of glory, court summons brought with them serious consequences. Wright broke up with the creators of several Cipro exchanges including Kraken and Binance, who delisted Bitcoin's Cash Satoshi's Vision (BSV) from their platforms.

Undoubtedly, however, a large part of the crypto society did not really like Wright's claim that he was Satoshi Nakamoto. Many people in the industry agree that there is little evidence to prove Craig's legitimacy.

Perhaps unexpectedly, but John McAfee also joined those who deny that Wright is the creator of Bitcoin. But McAfee said he knew Satoshi's true identity and that he would very soon declare his identity. For those who monitor verbal and Twitter battles, all this raises a very important question:

Why is it so important to know who Satoshi Nakamoto really is?

For Tim Curry, BlockchainBMT CEO, the answer is one: "Not important" - and for similar reasons, like the identity of Euclid - who is considered the creator of geometry - does not matter.

Curry believes that just as with Euclid, Nakamoto's work will change the world without the interference of the ego and personality.

"Despite the large set of writers - biographies of ancient Greek mathematicians (before and after Euclid), almost nothing knows about him, and just as with Satoshi, many believe that Euclid was actually a group of people instead of a man. - says Curry.

Nash Foster, Pyrofex's CEO, believes that the true Satoshi will never reveal his identity in order to keep Bitcoin's mysticism and character alive.

And for many, the culture around the blockchain and decentralized systems is part of a mystical qualification - almost as a religious cult. Perhaps, however, there is some value in this mystery?

Eran Eyal, Shopin's co-founder, says, "There are many codes that are the basis of many religions and movements that are much stronger behind the author's anonymity, perhaps this is the bible of the new economy. who really wrote these codes - do they themselves have no undisputed value? "

But, of course, Nakamoto's identity problem extends beyond mysticism - and while blockchain is considered as a great gift to the world in the long run, in the short run, the battle for his personality only affects Bitcoin's network and society as a whole and his perception of crypto industry. However, the status of a "prominent person" coming after Nakamoto's revelation may be a dangerous magnet for glory and power - and for hungry individualists.

For example, we can take the Ethereum creator - Nakamoto will have more power than Vitalik Buterin, who is far from defining himself as an influential figure, because he attributes Ethereum's success to the individualities of the "decentralized" society that must lead ETH to the future.

Still ... Is it possible that Wright is the real Satoshi?

Despite the negative consequences, Wright seems determined to bear the weight of Bitcoin creator's identity. But what kind of evidence actually exists?

One thing is clear, Craig has been heavily involved in Bitcoin since his early phase. In addition, Wright was part of the Cypher Punk movement, which existed before Bitcoin appeared, and worked with several computer scientists in the field of "relativity" and probability projects.

He even told the US government that he was the creator of Bitcoin: "My name is Dr. Craig Wright and my nickname is Satoshi Nakamoto." I finished a project I started in 1977, which was recorded in the Government of Australia as part of the AusIndustry project registered with the BlackNet innovation division. " - Craig's statement to CFTC.

Nevertheless, the evidence against Wright is more than those in his support. "Many of his autobiography, especially during his school years, can not be generally confirmed, with some points even controversial and unproven." There are also inconsistencies between Craig and Satoshi's "Graphanalysis and Questioned Document Examination (QDE) with significant differences in style, grammar, and writing. However, the strongest evidence is Wright's inability to sign a transaction using Satoshi's personal keys that were "dug" into Bitcoin's Genesis Block # 1 or Block # 9. To prove that he is Nakamoto, Wright had to just make a bitcoin transaction from Satoshi's wallet.

What next?

Will somewhat lead Wright's attempt to prove he's the real Nakamoto? Most likely this will lead to a huge disappointment, but at least he will have received his "30 minutes of glory". But to some extent, his efforts have repaid - he has apparently managed to persuade some people that he is Satoshi and has formed followers. In fact, it may be Nakamoto, why not? However, even if he is the legitimate, truly Satoshi Nakamoto, he may not be accepted by the crypto society: given his behavior, which is not inherent to a leader. His aggressive approach will undermine his authority.

We still have to find out whether Wright, or the friend of McAfee or anyone else, is the real Satoshi. But after all ... why does it matter?
