Wall Street Journal report this weekend looking at the benefits of Australian exporters from the trade war:
- Trade is so lively that Australia registers its first current account surplus - a measure of trade and financial flows with other countries - since 1975 in the second quarter of this year.
"It seems like a contradiction," said AMP Capital Chief Economist Shane Oliver. "We hear everything about the trade war, things that should obviously affect trade. And yet we have a record trade surplus that is far greater than anyone expected."
The report goes on to say that not everything is so pink for exporters in the country.
But yes, it did take some time, but still, the difficulty of exporting to some is a relief for others.
