The Japanese yen strengthened versus the dollar during intraday trading Friday as Governor Haruhiko Kuroda said the chances of hitting Japan’s 2 percent inflation target around fiscal 2019 are high.
Kuroda also said the Bank of Japan will be considering the timing of an exit from its stimulus policy around the same time.
His comments came during his confirmation hearing for reappointment to another term as BOJ governor.
