Copper futures are attracting a lot more attention these days. Open interest, a tally of outstanding
contracts, rose on Friday to the highest on record, suggesting “more speculative players have gotten involved,” said Tai Wong of BMO Capital Markets. Hedge funds boosted bullish bets to an
all-time high last week, while trading in Comex copper futures climbed 15 percent in July from a year earlier amid robust Chinese demand and signs of tightening supply.
