An index of metals from aluminum to zinc just capped the longest weekly rally in three years, but at
least one fund manager sees trouble ahead. Crispin Odey, whose London-based Odey Asset Management manages about $6 billion, has warned about “partying” markets and is shorting metal stocks in
anticipation of slowing economic growth in China. The country’s economy is showing signs of entering a second-half slowdown, as curbs on property, excess borrowing and industrial overcapacity
begin to take hold.
